Govan Community Project | SC042012 | SC390721 |
Coordinated and delivered by our Mental Health Support worker, Valerie, who brings a vast and varied background in clinical psychology and art therapy, the service creates a safe space for service users to explore personal issues and positive interventions.
We work on a referral basis, and community members who are referred receive six free support sessions. Throughout these sessions, you can expect to discuss current difficulties contributing to stress and anxiety. Together, we will explore coping mechanisms and grounding techniques to help manage these feelings both immediately and in the long term.
Sessions are often co-led by service users and Valerie. By taking a trauma-informed and lived-experience-sensitive approach, we view each session as an opportunity to take small steps and make manageable changes. Our goal is to help you improve your mental wellbeing, enhance your sleep, and build routines that support a healthier frame of mind.
"I was really anxious, worried, confused and I felt I gave up... I felt myself completely alone with lots of suicide thoughts. I felt my life useless and there was no need to keep going. But now, after these sessions, I found that I am not alone. There is someone who listens and cares. When I am in a difficult situation, I have the hope that I can meet and talk about it. I feel safe."
